About This Recording

   On All Souls Day, November 2, 1998, a collaboration took place between Cantores in Ecclesia and members of the Portland Youth Philharmonic Orchestra at St. Mary's Cathedral in Portland, Oregon. The two ensembles joined forces for a liturgical performance of Gabriel Faure's Requiem conducted by Huw Edwards.

   Shortly after this gratifying expeience, it was decided to record the Requiem and other sacred music by Faure in St. Patrick's Church -- the home of Cantores in Ecclesia. This is the result, and wonderful it is.
